What We Build, and How It Works

GPT Watermarker removes the watermarks AI image and video generators leave on your work: the visible Gemini and Veo sparkle logo, the C2PA Content Credentials manifest in the file header, and Google's SynthID signal hidden in the pixels.

Most people arrive because a platform labelled their upload as AI-generated and their reach collapsed. That label comes from markers inside the file, not from the picture, which is why cleaning the file before you post is the only thing that reliably changes the outcome.

This category is full of anonymous widgets that promise everything and explain nothing. We would rather tell you exactly what each layer is, which method clears it, and where our tools stop — including the one job we do not do yet.

The Three Layers, and How Each Is Removed

Different markers need genuinely different methods — anyone offering one button for all three is skipping something.

The visible logo is applied by alpha blending, a deterministic formula, so it inverts exactly rather than being blurred or painted over. Nothing outside the watermark area changes.

C2PA is metadata. Writing a new file from the decoded pixels leaves the entire original header behind, so it works regardless of which vendor's manifest structure it was.

SynthID is the hard one and the reason the other two are not enough. It is a statistical pattern distributed redundantly across the pixels, built to survive cropping, resizing, screenshots and re-compression — so it cannot be edited out without wrecking the picture.

How We Actually Clear It

There is nothing to delete — the signal is in the picture, so the picture is what gets processed.

Pages arguing that SynthID is unremovable are right about editing. Every surface-level approach — blur, clone, filter, re-save — fails, because the signal is spread too widely and redundantly for partial destruction to matter.

So the picture itself has to be processed. There is nothing to delete — the signal is not a tag sitting in the file header, it is spread across the pixels of the image — which is why this step runs on our servers rather than instantly in your browser, and why it carries a credit while logo and metadata removal do not.

The part that makes any of it usable is fidelity. Hand your picture to a general-purpose image model and you get a lookalike: same subject, visibly different image, useless as a replacement for your file. Holding the output close enough to the original that you cannot tell the two apart side by side is the difficult part, and it is what the credit pays for.

What We Don't Claim

Three limits we state up front, because finding them out later is worse.

We do not remove SynthID from video. Google embeds it across frames in Veo and Gemini clips, and regenerating every frame at the fidelity a still image gets is a materially harder problem. Video mode removes the C2PA content credentials — which is what platform upload checks actually read — and we say so rather than selling a metadata wipe under the name SynthID removal.

We do not promise universal undetectability. Published research finds that watermark-removal pipelines can leave signatures other forensic classifiers are able to spot, even when the original vendor's verifier reads clean. What our tools reliably clear is the provenance check platforms run at upload.

We do not promise a platform will never label your post. Platforms use heuristics and behavioural signals alongside provenance markers, and they change detection without notice. Clearing the markers removes the deterministic trigger, which causes the great majority of automatic labels. That is the honest boundary of what any tool in this category can do.

Your Files

Processed for the job and stored in your account only — never used to train anything.

Visible logo removal and video processing run locally in your browser, so those originals never leave your device. SynthID removal runs on our servers because it needs the processing pipeline: the file is uploaded to a path tied to your account and job, processed, and the result stored in your account. Downloads use time-limited signed links.

Your images and video are never used for model training, or for anything beyond running the tool and maintaining your history. Video results are deleted after 24 hours, and you can remove saved jobs yourself from the History panel. The full detail is in our privacy policy.

How Access Works

The cheap jobs are free or unlimited; only SynthID removal costs credits, and only when it succeeds.

Removing a visible logo or clearing metadata is a regular removal. Free accounts get two per UTC day, shared across images and video. Paid subscriptions make regular removals unlimited.

SynthID image removal uses credits — 1 in Standard mode, 2 in HD — because it runs on our servers rather than in your browser. Credits come from one-time top-up packs or a subscription's monthly allowance, and are consumed only when a job succeeds. If a job fails, the reservation is released and nothing is deducted.

Check your file before you spend anything. Plenty of images carry C2PA credentials only, and those never need the credit-consuming pass.

We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Google, OpenAI, xAI, Adobe or any other platform named on this site. Those names and marks belong to their owners, and we reference them only to describe which files our tools work on.

These are utilities for content you created and have the right to modify — your own generated images and clips, cleaned for a deck, a portfolio, an ad, a client deliverable, or a post. Where disclosure rules govern how you publish, such as the EU AI Act, follow them. Do not strip provenance from work that is not yours, or to misrepresent who made something.

How does GPT Watermarker actually remove SynthID?

By processing the picture itself, server-side. SynthID is not a tag in the file header that can be deleted — it is a pattern spread across the pixels, so the image has to be put through processing that leaves the signal unreadable while keeping the picture usable. Blunt edits — blur, filter, crop, re-save — do not work, because SynthID is distributed redundantly across the pixels specifically to survive them.

Does removing a watermark reduce image quality?

Logo removal reverses the alpha-blending formula mathematically, so nothing outside the watermark area changes, and metadata removal only discards the file header. SynthID removal is different: the picture itself is processed, and in Standard mode the image is resized to 1024px on its longest edge. HD mode works up to 4096px, so use HD when you need the resolution.

Can you remove SynthID from video?

Not yet. Google embeds SynthID across frames in Veo and Gemini video, and regenerating every frame at full fidelity is a much harder problem than a single still. Video mode removes the C2PA content credentials, which is what platform upload checks read, and we would rather state that limit than rename a metadata wipe.

Are my uploads used for training?

No. Your images and video are used only to run the job and maintain your history. Browser-side jobs never upload the original at all; server-side SynthID jobs store files in your own account, and video results are deleted after 24 hours.

Are you affiliated with Google or OpenAI?

No. We are independent and not endorsed by any AI platform. Product names are referenced only to describe which files our tools work on, and belong to their respective owners.

Is it legal to remove an AI watermark?

Removing watermarks from content you generated yourself is legal in most places — backups, your own commercial work, research and verification are common uses. Where AI-disclosure rules apply to how you publish, such as the EU AI Act, follow them, and never strip provenance from work that isn't yours.
